Abigail Shrier’s Irreversible Damage was a cultural moment in 2020 because she unmasked the social contagion that transgender ideology turned out to be. This year she released Bad Therapy, a journalistic inquiry into what is happening inside school classrooms in America that has made mental illness commonplace among our nation’s youth. In this episode we walk through some of what she found and why Christians ought to be aware of what is happening. Join us!

So were Summer and Joy 100 pounds overweight for many years due to obesity (a medicalized term) or lazy gluttony (the biblical truth)?

I’m late to listen, but have 2 thoughts:

First, I am glad to hear sin called what it is in the statement that deconstruction is apostasy. That said, your definition of deconstruction is not the way the dictionary defines it. Sometimes clarity by defining terms in a world with shifting word play allows a point to be more poignant.

Secondly, public schools aren’t the only ones embracing and using SEL. I endured a “christianized” version of this at an ACSI conference in 2020. While there was an attempt to add Biblical reasons why this approach is needed, there was a red flag to using this in our elementary level classes. I watched discipline appropriate for a school setting evaporate as classes began again. The following year produced early elementary students who no longer were required to sit and participate when it caused agitation. Thankfully the counseling for gender “choice” was not mentioned or implemented. My choice to leave the field of education was made clear as I refused to take part in this circus act that truly disrupts not only the lives of the coddled, but also of students who truly are excited to learn.
