This week we jaunt through puzzling problems, anniversary trips, and why we shouldn’t be afraid to call things dumb that are dumb. If there is a way to be “biblically dumb” (to borrow a phrase from Joy) then we ought to be able to recognize it. Are you really “struggling” with such-and-such outside problem, or are you just being conceited? Let’s take some inventory and make sure we aren’t being just plain dumb.

I like that you called us out about not wanting correction or reproof. Right, let’s see what Proverbs has to say about this… Only fools despise wisdom, and there is blessing in a multitude of counsel. So, we need to be willing to call sin sin. Something I think we can do to avoid being dumb in regards to addressing our sin so that we can battle it, is to stop using euphemisms in the church. For example, let’s not call sleeping with someone who is not your husband or wife an “affair”, let’s call it what it is, adultery. And the kids are both right – let’s take a deep breath, and take the time to revere God while we’re praying and call Him Father (I love to find out that 4-year-olds are smarter than I am….).
