After we play our last game of crunchy/not crunchy, we discuss women’s work.

Are you overwhelmed, tired, have a lot on your plate? Are you explaining how you feel based on your hormonal cycle or using words like “overstimulated”? Have you fallen down the rabbit hole of so-called “fair play” and wondered if you are making enough time for rest?

It all started with dry skin on my feet years ago. Then my son had dry skin from swimming in chlorinated pools, a winner again! The beef fat worked so well I used it to moisturize my belly during pregnancy. No stretch marks! Then my baby had a newborn rash…

You can’t imagine what you’ll end up doing until you’re doing it.

I was so glad you ladies touched on it being a household decision. Both my husband and I were working full time jobs, and I was working for a non profit that was doing ministry work in our community. I loved what I was doing there and somedays it didn’t even feel like work, but when we became short staffed and I had to take on the role of 3 people it was rough. I kept saying, it’s just a season I can push through, but that season turned into years and because I was so focused on trying to not let things fall through the cracks at the organization, I was letting things fall through the crack at home because I was so exhausted by the time I walked through the door. I was letting my place of employment become more of a priority then my home and justified it because it was “ministry work.” It came to the point where the stress really started to take a toll on my health and relationships. I was very thankful my husband could see everything that was going on and was like, “it’s time for you to take a step back. We will be fine. You focus on our home and helping us get healthier. “I put in my resignation that week and it was the best decision I could have made. Some people saw it as I quit working, but that wasn’t it at all. My worked just shifted to what my main priority and ministry should be, my home. Everything has gotten better in just a view short months. It’s amazing how much more at peace you can feel when you are obedient to how Christ has called you to do things and get your own fears or even pride out of the way. I am thankful for you ladies and speaking out on the cultural narratives and speaking on the truth of scripture.
