Summer Recommends, November Edition
We get numerous messages every week from Christians with extremely thoughtful questions. Many times, what we are being asked for is resources: what Christian music should I give to my teens? What books do you recommend on gender issues? How did you come to land where you land on headcovering? I end up grabbing links to all sorts of things I recommend and shooting them off to people in the hopes of being helpful.
I am hoping to do something similar here by compiling lists of things that I’ve been reading, thinking about, and recommending often to our listeners. Enjoy!
My Current Reading Pile:
Since I haven’t finished these yet, because yes, they are my current reads, I’m unsure if this is the best way to kick off a post full of things I recommend. Yet, here we are. Of course, I am on my one millionth read-through of Love Thy Body because I’m leading the Sheologians Book Club (which you should totally join here, if you haven’t already). I expect I will be reading The Mission of God until next October, and I have no idea if I would “recommend” the others. Check back in with me on that later. Click on any of the books below if you want to learn more about them!
Pro-Life Stuff You Should Be Aware Of:
Babies Are Still Murdered Here just dropped, and you absolutely need to clear your schedule and watch it!
Read this article and consider the culture’s message that it’s Christianity that has a low view of humanity.
This article from 2011 highlights the emotional and mental toll that abortion takes on women. I wonder if articles like this could still be published at CBS today, less than a decade later?
Students For Life doesn’t recommend telling people that abortion is murder. Huh. What a funny way to look at this issue, no?
If You Have To Watch Something:
My did an excellent show regarding the whole David/Bathsheba/Rape dust-up and I found it really helpful. Now that the dust has settled a bit, watch it here.
This conspiracy busting video had me in stitches, please enjoy it.
Hello Ninja on Netflix was made by CHRISTIANS, so yay! Something for the kids to enjoy!
This Kanye West video blew my mind in all the best ways. Don’t miss it.
And finally,
If you have any other sections you’d like me to add, let me know in the comments! Cheers!

Favorite podcasts is a section you could add!
Kids books recommendations, please!! I just found your podcast few weeks ago so I started listening from the beginning and today was the episode about Sarah’s Young book Jesus Calling and I realized my 7 year old is doing those daily devotions. I also have a 2 and 4 year old, so anything in this age range would be a great help! Thank you so much!!!
Would love to know what resources you have read to come to your conclusion on head coverings! <3
Can you link your recommendations for music? Our 9 year old just took issue with KLoves tagline “positive, encouraging” because she has been listening to you guys with me and it has occurred to her so simply that the phrase is more about “living your best life” rather then loving Jesus.
Do you have any recommendations on book that speak to pre-teens finding their worth in Jesus and living their life for the Lord without FOMO. Actually I need that book for myself too!
Love you guys!!
I’d love to know your thoughts on vaccines and the use of aborted fetal cells to manufacture them. It’s so hard to find solid information in this day and age on the subject.
How are we, as Christians supposed to move forward? Many Christians don’t even know about this practice.
We are currently watching The Chosen as a family and absolutely LOVE it! It is very Bible centered and captures the lives of his followers! Would highly recommend!

Virtuous is one of my favorites. I stopped it to read her recommendation book by Thomas Watson and then continued on. It is all so great!

I agree with an above comment- children’s book recommendations.
